“Effective meditation is a fluid dance between presence and allowing trains of thought to reach their final destination.” 🚂🌴 Like a camera lens shifting in and out of focus, your meditation won’t always be razor-sharp—and that’s a good thing. A truly effective practice includes both moments of presence (noticing your breath, body sensations, or sounds) AND moments where you let thoughts run their course, rather than shutting them down. 🚞 When you allow for this natural rhythm, meditation becomes easier, more enjoyable, and full of both relaxation AND insight. 💆‍♀️💡 This approach completely changed my meditation practice. On this Valentine’s Day, how can we love ourselves, and others, a little better? ♥️🌿 In Buddhist practice, lovingkindness, or “metta”, helps us cultivate patience, connection, and goodwill—not just toward those we find easy to love, but even (especially) when we or others are, as @danharris puts it, “mildly irritating.” Take a moment with these reflections. How do they land with you? ✨ May I soften the way I speak to myself and notice when I’m judging others. ✨ May I assume people are doing their best with what they have—just as I am. ✨ When I’m struggling, may I remember that struggle is universal, and I’m not alone. ✨ May I see when I’m comparing myself and refocus on my own path. ✨ May I take care of myself so I can care more deeply for others. ✨ May I listen to my intuition so I can live with greater honesty. ✨ May I see, too, how I can be lazy, selfish, dishonest, arrogant, disorganised, and hypocritical. ✨ May I give myself—and others—permission to be imperfect. ✨ May I move through the world with less rigidity. ✨ May I remember I’m part of something bigger and my patience makes the world a little softer. 💛 Happy Valentine’s Day May you be well, at ease, and open to the kindness all around you.

Current vibe: journaling. ✍️ A meditation practice isn’t a static thing; it morphs with you like the seasons change. The meditation season I’m currently in is journaling. 🍂 Journaling for me isn’t about pouring my entire inner narrative onto a page… though that happens from time to time. It’s a mix of affirmation “art” - if you’d call it that - and lately, a daily acknowledgment of four prompts: 🙂 Mood
😍 Grateful
😬 Things I’m avoiding
🙁 Worries Naming my mood helps me see how fluid emotions are and how common it is to have mixed emotions. Anxious and calm? How can that be? Well, when we pay attention, it can. Listing everything I’m lucky to have helps me remember how skewed our thinking can be. Because look at all those things I’m grateful for! It’s a constant reminder that the negative bias runs deep. Shining a light on the things I’m avoiding helps me lean into discomfort to do hard things - or at least have some awareness. And stating my worries helps me honour uncertainty and flip anxious thoughts to more helpful ones. For me, in this season of journaling, my days definitely begin from a more grounded place. Another thing to be grateful for. 🙏 What are your favourite journaling prompts? —- Journaling is a key component in my upcoming Learn to Meditate course.
